Hao Zhu (r0816422), Shichen Wu (r0862533)

3.Source of the data: Iowa Data, which is the official data portal about state of Iowa. Here is the link:https://data.iowa.gov/Sales-Distribution/Iowa-Liquor-Sales/m3tr-qhgy

4. Background information: The data is provided by Iowa Department of Commerce, Alcoholic Beverages Division. The Iowa Department of Commerce requires that every store that sells alcohol in bottled form for off-the-premises consumption must hold a class “E” liquor license (an arrangement typical of most of the state alcohol regulatory bodies). All alcoholic sales made by stores registered thusly with the Iowa Department of Commerce are logged in the Commerce department system, which is in turn published as open data by the State of Iowa.

5.Why this Project:

l The dataset covers 2.6 million rows and 24 columns, and each row is an individual product purchase. There are various types of columns in this dataset which will provide abundant data resources for our visualization ideas.

l The Big data of Iowa Liquor Sales is up-to-date and comes from real sales scenarios, and we can use it to research many interesting questions.

l The dataset can be used to analyze total spirits sales in Iowa of individual products at the store level. We think it will be a challenging and interesting work to visualize such data.

5. How will we do this project?

Communication: We have created a WeChat group and discuss regularly about the project.

Work & responsibility: Everyone is responsible for a part of the job and we discuss the overall work and set a clear timeline.

Feedback and correction: According to the feedback we get, we will improve our visualization work in time to make our work better.
